Abkhazia Flag
Abkhazia is a piece of disputed territory that is located on the Black Sea. This is the coat of arms of the Republic that declared its independence from Georgia in 1991. It was designed by V. Gamgia and was officially adopted in 1992. The seven stars represent the seven regions of the country: Sadzen, Bzyp, Gumaa, Abzhywa, Samurzaqan, Dal-Tsabal and Pskhuy-Aibga. The green and white stripes represent the coexistence of Christianity and Islam. The white hand is representative of welcoming strangers and halting enemies[1].
