Arizona Flag
The flag of Arizona was adopted on February 17, 1917. It was designed by Colonel Charles W. Harris in 1910. The colors yellow and red are representative of Spain. The blue represents liberty. The copper star represents the state's copper-mining industry. The 13 rays represents the original 13 counties of Arizona. In a 2001 poll conducted by the North American Vexillological Association, it was ranked 6th out of 72 North American flags for overall design quality[1].
