Australia Coat of Arms (1908)
The first official coat of arms of Australia was granted on May 7, 1908 by King Edward VII. The shield features a white background that is crossed with a red St. George's Cross, with blue lines outside of the cross. Within the cross there are five white stars. A blue border around the shield features six inescutcheons featuring a red chevron on white, which represent the original six states of Australia. The supporters are a Kangaroo and Emu. The Star of Federation is featured atop the shield. A scroll below the shield contains the phrase "Advance Australia"[1].
