Bath Coat of Arms

The coat of arms of Bath, England features a shield which depicts the sword of St. Paul, who was one of the Patron Saints of the Abbey, against the borough wall. It is supported by a lion and bear standing upon acorns, which are from the story of Bladud, who was the cities legendary founder. The crown on the top is commemorative of King Edgar who was coronated in 973 AD. A scroll beneath the shield features the Latin motto Aquae Sulis meaning "The Waters of Sul"[1].
