Berlin Coat of Arms
The coat of arms of Berlin, Germany features a grunting red armed and red tongued black bear on a silver shield. The origins of the bear are disputed, but some theorize that it derives from Albrecht I, the conqueror and founder of the Margraviate of Brandenburg, which was a principality of the Holy Roman Empire from 1157 to 1806. Another theory holds that since the first syllable of the word Berlin, Bär, sounded like bear, the citizens shows the bear for the coat of arms[1].
