Canadian Flag (1868)
This is the Canadian Flag, known as the Canadian Red Ensign, which was used from 18681921. It is set on a red background and a Union Jack serves as the canton. The shield on the right features the coats of arms of all four of the nation's original provinces. It was never officially declared the national flag, but its use was promoted by Prime Minister Sir John A. Macdonald[1].
