Captain William Brown Flag
This Brown Independence Flag was designed by William S. Brown in 1835 in the city of Velasco. Captain William Brown's flag may have been used at the Battle of Bexar. It features a field of alternating red and white stripes, one of which features the word "INDEPENDENCE". The blue canton depicts a severed bloody arm, a symbol of the desire for liberty[1].
