Castile And Leon Flag
The flag of Castile and Leon, Spain is divided into four quadrants. The upper left and lower right quadrants depict a castle, symbolic of the coats of arms of the Kingdom of Castile. The upper right and lower left quadrants depict a lion, symbolic of Kingdom of Leon. The lion is attributed to Alfonso VII of León, who was the king of León and Castile in 1126. The castle symbol is attributed to his grandson, Alfonso VIII of Castile. In 1230, Ferdinand III of Castile united the two kingdoms and quartered the arms the symbolize their union[1].
