Ceredigion Coat of Arms

The upper left quadrant features a golden lion rampant on a black, which is derived from the arms of Gwaithfoed, who was a medieval prince of Ceredigion. The upper right quadrants features a herring set against alternating blue and white wavy lines, which represents the importance of the fishing industry to Ceredigion. The lower left quadrant depicts a wheatsheaf, which is represents the importance of agriculture. The lower right quadrant features the arms of Saint David, the Patron Saint of Wales. A scroll at the bottom contains the county's motto "Golud Gwlad Rhyddid" which translates into English as "A Country's Wealth is its Freedom"[1].
