Fremont Flag
When John C. Fremont was on a topographical expedition into areas claimed by Mexico, he did carry the American flag. Instead, his wife, Jessie, created this flag using elements of design taken from Old Glory and Army regimental flags. It features twenty-six stars and a blue eagle clutching in its talons nine arrows, a peace pipe, the latter being a more recognizable sign of peace to the Indians than the more commonly used olive branch[1].
