Ghana Coat of Arms
The coat of arms of Ghana was adopted on March 4, 1957 shortly after the nation declared independence from the United Kingdom. It features a blue shield divided into four quarters by a green St. George's Cross outlined in yellow. A yellow lion is depicted in the center of the cross, which is symbolic of the United Kingdom. The upper left section depicts a ceremonial sword known as an okyeame, which is a symbol of the nation's regional governments. The upper right section depicts a castle on the sea, which represents the national government as it is the presidential palace in Accra on the Gulf of Guinea. The lower left section features a cacao tree, which represents the nation's agriculture. The lower right section depicts a gold mine, which represents the nation's natural resources. A black star, representing African freedom, sits atop the shield. The shield is supported by two golden eagles who are wearing banner's featuring the national colors around their necks. A scroll below the shield reads "Freedom and Justice", which is the motto of the nation[1].

  Ghana Flag
The flag of Ghana is a horizontal tricolour of red, yellow (or gold), and green that features a black star in the center. It was designed by Mrs. Theodosia Okoh and was adopted in 1957 after Ghana declared independence from the United Kingdom. The red represents the blood of those who struggled for independence. The yellow stands for the nation's mineral wealth. The green is symbolic of the nation's forests[2].
