Haiti Flag
The flag of Haiti features two horizontal bars. The top bar is blue and the bottom bar is red. A small white rectangle, inside of which the nation's coat of arms is depicted, is located in the center of the flag. It was adopted on February 25, 1987. However, it is somewhat similar to a previous flag used between that dates back to 1964. The blue and red of derive from the French Tricolore, as it was torn up by the revolutionary Jean-Jacques Dessalines in 1803. It is said that the two parts were stitched together horizontally to make a new flag. The blue bar represents the population of ancient slaves. The red bar represents the people of mixed races known as mulattoes[1].

  Haiti Coat of Arms
The coat of arms of Haiti was adopted in its current form in 1986, although similar versions date back to 1807. It features a central palm tree from which six national flags are draped (three on each side). Canons are also located on each side of the tree. The lawn in front of the tree depicts several items including a drum, a bugle, long guns, and ship anchors. A broken chain is also depicted on the lawn, which represents the broken chains of slavery. A Phrygian cap is depicted on top of the tree. A scroll at the bottom of the arms features the national motto "L'Union Fait La Force", which means "Union Makes Strength"[2].
