Georgia Coat of Arms (1918-1921)
This historical coat of arms of Georgia was used by the Democratic Republic of Georgia throughout its existence from 1918-1921. It was also used from 1991-2004. Though the use of St. George as Georgia's patron saint was by then a long standing tradition, there were nevertheless some discussions about other possibilities, the major one being the use of Amiran, which would have been symbolic of Georgia's fight for freedom from the Russian Empire. However, a decision was then made in favor of St. George[1].
