Hungary Flag
The flag of Hungary is a horizontal tricolour consisting of three equal bands of red, white, and green. It was adopted on October 1, 1957. The flag has its origins in the Hungarian Revolution of 1848. The tricolour design was taken from the flag of France as the revolutionaries were inspired by the ideals of the French Revolution. The colors were derived from the historical coat of arms. It is said that the color red stands for strength and blood spilled for the nation, white represents faithfulness and freedom, and green represents hope and the nation's pastures[1].

  Hungary Coat of Arms
The coat of arms of Hungary was adopted on July 3, 1990 after the end of Communist rule. However, the arms have been used previously by the nation and dates back to the 14th century. The shield is divided vertically into two sections. The right section features a white or silver double cross, an ancient symbol of the Kingdom of Hungary on a red background. A crown is depicted at the base of the cross. The cross sits atop three green hills, which represent the Tátra, Mátra, Fátra mountain ranges. The left side of the shield features a series of alternating white or silver and red horizontal stripes known as the Árpád stripes. Some say that the four white or silver stripes represent the Duna, Tisza, Dráva, and Száva rivers. The Holy Crown of Hungary is depicted on top of the shield[2].
