Indiana Flag
The flag of Indiana features a gold torch surrounded by an outer circle of thirteen gold stars and an inner semi circle of five gold stars on a blue field. It was designed by Paul Hadley and was adopted on May 31, 1917. The torch represents liberty and enlightenment and the rays that emanate from it represent the far reaching influence of such liberty and enlightenment. The total of nineteen star represent the fact that Indiana was the nineteenth state to enter the Union. The ring of thirteen outer stars represent the thirteen original colonies of the United States, whereas the inner semi circle of five stars represent the first five states to join the Union after the thirteen original colonies[1].
