Iowa Flag
The flag of Iowa is a vertical tricolour of blue, white, and red, with the central white band being larger than the other two. A bald eagle holding a ribbon with the motto "Our liberties we prize and our rights we will maintain" is depicted in the center of the flag, with the word "Iowa" written in red below the eagle. It was designed in 1917 by Dixie Cornell Gebhardt, a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and was adopted in 1921. The red, white, and blue tricolor design pays homage to France, as Iowa was part of the French Louisiana Territory[1].
