Isle of Man Coat of Arms
The coat of arms of the Isle of Man were adopted on July 12, 1996, but the arms had been in use since the 13th century. It features a red shield that depicts an ancient symbol known as a triskelion, which is essentially three legs. The shield is supported by a falcon and a raven. The falcon dates back to the reign of King John I of Mann, who was granted the Isle of Man in 1405 on condition that he pay homage to King Henry IV of England and that he gave two falcons to him and subsequent kings of their coronation day. A banner at the bottom contains the motto "Quocunque jeceris stabit", which means "whichever way you throw, it will stand"[2].
