Mainz Coat of Arms
The coat of arms of the city of Mainz, Germany features two white (or silver) six-spoked wheels united by a cross on a red shield. One theory about the wheel's origins was that it was used as the symbol of Archbishop Willigis (975-1011), who was the son of a wheelwright. Another theory is that it is a derivative of the sun wheel Mogo, a celtic God and patron of Moguntiacum, the Roman name for Mainz. The Christian interpretation suggests that the wheel derived from the Greek language’s monogram for Christ (eternity, timelessness)[1].
