Maryland Flag
The flag of Maryland is the George Calvert, 1st Baron Baltimore. It was adopted on November 25, 1904, although it was first flown in its present form on October 11, 1880 during the 150th year celebration of the city's founding. The red and white cross bottony derives from the arms of the Crossland family, the family of George Calvert's mothers. The black and yellow bars derive from the Calvert family, and were rewarded to George for storming a fortification during a battle, as they resemble the bars of a palasade[1].
