Minneapolis Flag

The flag of the city of Minneapolis, Minnesota was adopted on May 27, 1955. A design contest was held and the winning design was that of Louise Sundin's. It features a royal blue pennant on a white field. A white disc on the blue pennant is divided into four parts: a building (representing arts and education), a cogwheel and square (for industry and labor), a pilot wheel (for lakes and rivers), and a microscope (symbolic of research, skilled craftsmanship and progress)[1].
