Newfoundland Tricolour (Unofficial Flag)
The Newfoundland Tricolour flag features three equal sized horizontal bands of green, white, and pink. It is an unofficial flag who historians believe originated when it was used in the 1870s by the Star of the Sea, a Roman Catholic fraternal organization, which probably derived its design from the flag of Ireland. The green is believed to represent the flag of Brian Boru, the pink symbolizes the Rose of England, and the white symbolizes the peace between Ireland and England. The flag gained popularity during the 1990's and 2000's as a flag that makes a political statement, as well as a flag used to promote tourism[1].
