Perth Coat of Arms
The coat of arms of the city of Perth, Australia features a shield supported by two black swans. The shield is white and is divided into quarters by a red St. George's Cross. The upper left quadrant depicts a black swan, as the area was originally called Swan River Colony. The lower right quadrant depicts elements from the coat of arms of Perth, Scotland, the city's namesake. A motto at the bottom reads "Floreat", which is Latin for "flourish". The arms were granted on December 2, 1926, with the element's from Perth, Scotland's coat of arms being added later in 1949[1].
