Serapis Flag
The Serapis Flag features a field of thirteen alternating red, white, and blue stripes, with a blue canton that depicts thirteen white stars. During the American Revolution, this flag was flown from the British frigate Serapis, which had been captured by U.S. Navy Captain John Paul Jones at the Battle of Battle of Flamborough Head. The design was set a year earlier by Arthur Lee, American commissioner in France, in a letter that he wrote to Henry Laurens. It is also known as the Franklin Flag because its description was given by Benjamin Franklin, then Ambassador to France[1].
