Shreveport Flag
The flag of the city of Shreveport, Louisiana. It was designed in 1934 by Stewart G. Davis, a veteran of World War I, who won a public contest that had been suggested by Rupert Peyton, state legislator and local journalist. It is a tricolour consisting of three equal vertical bands of blue, white, and gold. A shield is depicted in the center of the flag. This shield is divided diagonally into three sections. The the upper right is blue and depicts 18 gold stars (symbolizing the fact that Louisiana was the 18th state to enter the Union). The middle section is a red and depicts three stylized magnolia blossoms (the state flower). The lower left-hand section is white and depicts 14 blue cones, a heraldic device derived from the arms of the Shreve family[1].
