Sicily Coat of Arms
The coat of arms of Sicily features a shield divided diagonally between a red and yellow section. The center of the shield is charged with a three-legged emblem derived from the triskelion symbol, a motif characteristic of the Celtic art from the European Iron Age, but also appearing elsewhere as early as the fourth century BC. The symbol was revived by Joachim Murat in 1808 for use in the arms of the Napoleonic Kingdom of the Two Sicilies[1].
